ABOUT THE EPPP
What is the EPPP?
The EPPP -- or, more formally, the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology -- is the licensing exam for those seeking to practice independently (not under another provider’s supervision) as a psychologist anywhere in the United States or Canada.
The exam consists of 225 questions, where 50 are practice questions and the remaining 175 are graded. A passing score equates to around a 70% (or 500 points out of 800), but these can differ from region to region. Additionally, the exam is timed -- with 4 hours and 15 minutes allotted to test-takers.
There are eight broad content areas included on the EPPP: (1) biological bases of behavior; (2) cognitive-affective bases of behavior; (3) social and cultural bases of behavior; (4) growth and lifespan development; (5) assessment and diagnosis; (6) treatment, intervention, prevention and supervision; (7) research methods and statistics; and (8) ethical, legal, and professional issues.
