Note: Serving on a Board Committee is a prerequisite for applying to serve on the POC Board of Directors.
If you are just getting started with POC, please apply to join a Board Committee.
A POC Board Member is an individual volunteer who serves on the Board of Directors for Psychologists of Color, Inc. – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Individuals interested in joining the POC Board must serve on a Board committee for at least three months prior to applying to join the Board of Directors.
Board meetings are currently held bimonthly (every other month) at 5PM Pacific.
All Board Members are expected to become involved at the committee level, make a concerted effort to attend every Board meeting, proactively volunteer for assignments as they become available, and complete tasks thoroughly, on-time, and with the best interests of the organization in mind.
It is critical that every Board Member has a vested interest in the mission, shares the values of the organization, and takes an active role in strategic planning.
Members of the Board of Directors must participate in each: “Give,” “Get,” and “Serve.”
The ways in which members of the Board of Directors meet each requirement is up to their own discretion.
